Abstract : The increasing demand for professionals who are periodically trained for the constantly changing digital economy, along with the convergence of new technologies and widespread Internet penetration, has led to a steady growth in online education across the globe. In-service training is essential for teachers, who should constantly be learners. It is vital to enhance the work production and motivation of teachers in the sector. Lack of in-service training will impede teachers#34sig professional development and cause "missing gaps" between expected and actual accomplishment levels. Higher education establishments and teacher education programs were compelled by the COVID-19 epidemic to switch from face-to-face to remote instruction. Universities and schools had to adapt to this new educational environment to meet the demands of students who were developing as teachers and learners. Teachers have to be facilitators of learning, knowledge transmitters, organizers, and mentors in addition to their other tasks. Concerned organizations put a lot of effort into creating teacher training courses, providing exposure to pedagogical techniques, and guaranteeing that teachers#34sig knowledge and abilities are updated through in-service teacher training programs to help them meet these professional expectations. Teachers can change and adapt to the rapidly changing global environment with the support of in-service teacher training. The COVID-19 virus#34sigs propagation compelled educators to develop and choose online strategies for enhancing instructors#34sig professional capacities so they could communicate with their students through a variety of online methods. Online learning switched traditional classroom instruction to a web-based method during the COVID-19 epidemic. This literature-based paper explores the value of online in-service teacher education programs, as well as the current state of in-service teacher education in India and overseas. It also addresses the difficulties and problems that teachers and instructors encounter when implementing these kinds of online programs. The viability and applicability of e-learning as a format for in-service teacher education will be covered in this paper.
