Abstract : This study investigates the mental health and classroom climate of 9th standard students in Chennai. A sample of 400 students was selected based on gender (male = 180, female = 220), locality (urban = 220, rural = 180), type of school management (government = 190, private = 210), and medium of instruction (Tamil medium = 185, English medium = 215). The survey method was employed, and data was collected using questionnaires on mental health and classroom climate. Descriptive statistics, differential analysis, and correlation were used to analyse the data. The findings reveal significant differences in mental health and classroom climate across demographic variables. The study concludes with recommendations for improving mental health and classroom climate among students.
